Insurance

WHAT TYPES OF INSURANCE DOES THE SOCIETY HAVE?

The CCHSA Inc. has 2 types of insurance

  1. Public Liability - for $10 million
  2. Association Liability Insurance

WHO IS INSURED?

The principal insured party under the insurance contract is the Commonwealth Clydesdale Horse Society Australia Inc. ie the Society itself. As such anyone who is injured or suffers property damage resulting from negligence on the part of CCHSA Inc. will be covered for their loss. There is, however, a clause that describes who is included as insured parties in addition to the principal insured party. It reads: “Any Member, Officer, Committee or voluntary worker of the Insured, but only whilst acting within the scope of their duties in such capacity, including any Member, Officer, Committee or voluntary worker of the Insured’s canteen, social, sports, first aid/medical, firefighting and employee welfare organisations in their respective capacity as such;” In essence, coverage is extended to Members of the Society while they are acting in the principal activities of the Society.

MEMBERS

To clarify “Member”, this is defined as the name of the nominated person registered to the Membership Number. If the Membership is in a company or joint name only the nominated person is covered by insurance.

NON-MEMBERS

Non-Members that participate at CCHSA Inc. events, must be issued with a day Membership of the CCHSA Inc. in order for them to be covered under the insurance policy. This then provides the non- Member cover for that event.

VOLUNTEERS

Any voluntary worker of the Insured, but only whilst acting within the scope of their duties in such capacity. For example: working in a voluntary capacity of the Insured’s canteen, steward, social, sports, first aid/medical, firefighting and employee welfare organisations in their respective capacity as such.
